General Description
Grand Palace Brno — formerly Barceló Brno Palace — is a five-star luxury boutique hotel housed in one of Brno's most prestigious historical buildings. The palace on Šilingrovo Square was commissioned by the city in the mid-19th century and designed by architect Franz Fröhlich (1824–1889) as an elegant residential complex, with a sophisticated layout of varied rooms and a grand staircase system. It served as the Městský Dvůr (City Court) before being transformed into a hotel.
The building's defining feature is its breathtaking five-storey atrium, crowned by a glass roof rising to 23 metres, which floods the lobby with natural light and provides a spectacular setting for the lounge and social spaces. The hotel's 119 rooms and suites — including Deluxe, Executive and Junior Suite categories — were designed by Spanish designer Paco Entrena and combine period architecture with contemporary luxury: air conditioning, minibar, pillow menu, bathrobes and slippers, and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout.
Dining options include two on-site restaurants serving international and Central European cuisine, as well as a bar lounge. The relaxation area offers a sauna, fitness studio and massage treatments. The Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul and Špilberk Castle are just steps away, and Brno's main railway station is within easy walking distance.
