Train

Itinerary (7 days / 6 nights)

Prague – Hradec Králové – Olomouc – Brno – Prague

Day 1 — Prague

Arrival at the airport and private transfer to Hotel Prague Centre Plaza 3★ centre (or similar). Free time to explore the city at your own pace. Our guides will offer a range of optional excursions. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 — Prague

Breakfast and free time to discover Prague. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 — Hradec Králové

Situated at the confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers, Hradec Králové became a Slavic stronghold in the 9th century under the first Přemyslid rulers. In the medieval period it served as the "dower city" of the Czech queens. Between the 16th and 18th centuries the city suffered fires, plague epidemics and numerous wars. Under Josef II (1741–1790) it was transformed into a Baroque fortress; today it is the seat of the Archdiocese of Bohemia and was visited by Pope John Paul II in 2001. Not to be missed: the Great Square with the White Tower, Renaissance and Baroque townhouses, the Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady, and the Museum of East Bohemia.

Day 4 — Hradec Králové – Olomouc  (150 km · 2h 40 min by train)

Breakfast and independent transfer to Hradec Králové station to board the train to Olomouc. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel Flora 4★.

The archiepiscopal seat of Moravia and former provincial capital, Olomouc has been an important cultural and administrative centre since the Middle Ages. It has the second most significant historic centre in the country after Prague, featuring Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic architecture including the Fortified Church of St Maurice. The main reason Olomouc was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site is the Holy Trinity Column in its main square — standing over thirty metres tall, it is a remarkable example of Baroque art. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in Central Europe. We recommend dining at one of the restaurants on the square, such as Hanácká Hospoda, to sample Moravian cuisine.

Day 5 — Olomouc – Brno  (100 km · 1h 30 min by train)

Breakfast and independent transfer to Olomouc station to board the train to Brno. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel Royal Ricc 4★.

The current capital of Moravia and the second largest and most populous city in the Czech Republic. Beneath its streets lies a labyrinth of cellars, sewers and galleries of great historical interest. Notable monuments include the Church of St Peter and Paul (Petrov), the Church of St James, Špilberk Castle, and numerous palaces, galleries and museums. Villa Tugendhat — the fourth work of modern architecture to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is an unmissable visit. We recommend lunch at the Hotel Grand.

Day 6 — Brno – Prague  (200 km · 3h 40 min by train)

Breakfast and independent transfer to Brno station to board the train to Prague. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel Prague Centre 3★ centre.

Day 7 — Prague – Airport

Personal time until the transfer to the airport for the return flight home.
