Krakow Student Excursions

Guided Tour of Krakow
Guided tour of the Old Town (UNESCO) — discover the treasures of Poland's former capital. Starting from Wawel Hill with its impressive Castle (once the seat of the Polish kings) and Cathedral, we follow the Royal Road to admire the beautiful townhouses and churches, arriving at the Market Square — the largest medieval market square in Europe. Here we stop to listen to the bugle call played by a trumpeter from the tower of St Mary's Basilica, visit the church (with its famous wooden altarpiece) and the Cloth Hall — a perfect place to pick up Krakow souvenirs. The tour also takes in the university quarter with Collegium Maius — the oldest building of the Jagiellonian University — and Kazimierz, the historic Jewish quarter.

Zakopane
Full-day excursion to Zakopane, Poland's winter capital. The town is nestled at the foot of the Tatra Mountains — Poland's highest mountain range. It is famous for the traditions of the Górale (the highlanders), its unique architectural style and of course its breathtaking mountain scenery. After arriving in Zakopane (approximately 2 hours by coach from Krakow), you will ride the funicular up Mount Gubałówka — the sweeping views from the top are simply unforgettable. The tour continues with Zakopane's most important landmarks: Villa Atma, the Papal Sanctuary in Krzeptówki and the beautiful Jaszczurówka Wooden Chapel (one of the finest examples of the local Zakopane style in art and architecture). You will also visit Krupówki, the town's most famous street and the best spot for souvenir hunters. On the way back to Krakow, you will stop at Chochołów — a village that resembles an open-air museum, renowned for its many 19th-century wooden houses.
