Programme — Tour Slovakia UNESCO 8 days / 7 nights

Day 1 — Bratislava

Arrival in Bratislava. The Slovak capital is one of the youngest in Europe, though few know that when it was called Pressburg it was one of the most important cities of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is said that a true Pressburgian speaks Hungarian, Slovak, German and Mishmash — the curious local dialect that blends all three. Its position on the banks of the Danube and at the crossroads of ancient trade routes soon made it a meeting point of cultures: Celts, Romans and Slavs all left their mark here. The reign of Maria Theresa is considered the period of greatest splendour: she was crowned Queen of Hungary in the Cathedral of St Martin, as were ten other Hungarian kings when Pressburg was the capital of Hungary. Dinner and accommodation.
